Offers case management and vocational services that address barriers to employment, disabilities, mental health issues, housing, homelessness, education, and training. It also helps veterans obtain the benefits to which they are entitled.

Harvest House

Assists veterans who have struggled with returning to civilian life after their service via transitional housing set in a therapeutic community, recovery and life enrichment classes, case management, and homebound services. In partnership with the VA, these services are offered to honorably discharged Veterans free of charge via the GPD program.

Operation Military Assistance Program (OMAP) helps homeless and potentially homeless Veterans in Sarasota and Manatee counties obtain housing benefits, financial assistance, case management, and support groups. Must meet the income requirements. No fees.

Tidewell Hospice

Tidewell Honors Veterans is a comprehensive program focused on respectfully celebrating veterans and providing care that recognizes the unique challenges that may exist in military families. Tidewell Honors recognized veterans, upon request, in the form of a special pinning ceremony. By specifically honoring veterans’ contribution to America’s freedom, Tidewell Honors Veterans says “thank you” for a job well done and a life well-lived. In addition, the program allows veterans and their families to choose from a number of services tailored just for them.

Turning Points

Assists low-income veteran families in or transitioning to permanent housing by providing a wide range of supportive services, including financial assistance, obtaining VA benefits, employment services, health care, and financial planning services. To be eligible, you need to be a veteran who is homeless or at risk of being homeless.

An informative website offers various resources regarding service member and family benefits, careers and employment, housing assistance, education and training, health care, and disability. In addition, two local VA Outpatient Clinics offer primary care, emphasizing disease prevention and management of chronic illnesses.

Veterans Administrative Aid and Attendance

This program benefits veterans and surviving spouses who require another person's regular attendance to assist in bathing, dressing, meal preparation, medication monitoring, or other activities of daily living. This benefit is available to individuals in assisted living communities, personal care homes, and skilled nursing facilities. To be eligible, you need to be a war veteran with 90 days of active duty with at least one day during active wartime. In addition, the individual must qualify both medically and financially.
